Lancaster rider - Leanne Thompson of the Lune RCC sponsored by Biketreks of Ambleside managed to gain 3rd place in the Lune RCC promoted 5th round of the National Women's Series event held on the Capernwray circuit near Lancaster on Sunday.

In a tough race the main threat came from the Team Halfords BikeHut squad. World Champion, Joanna Rowsell and Katie Coleclough both of Team Halfords came in 1st and 2nd respectively managing to put a considerable gap between themselves and the remaining peloton. On the final climb to the finish up Sunny Bank, Leanne outsprinted her rivals to take an impressive 3rd place from seasoned International Catherine Hare, also Team Halfords.
