As we fret over mortgage rates, petrol & diesel prices, our 9 to 6 existence and what the future holds for us and our nearest and dearest. And that is exactly waht happend to me early on Monday morning. Regular readers will be aware that my young 'cus' Alex is in the Paras... 3 Para B Company to be precise. I believe, as i write this, Alex is 'front line' in Upper Sanguin, Afghanistan with the Paras.

As the reports of the three deaths started to come into sharp, cruel focus and the time had passed that from our family's point of view this time it wasn't Alex it didn't make it any more acceptable. Three young, talented Men...dead. Killed in an unimaginable, horrendous and horrific way that none of us can even contemplate. And for what?.... Is it worth the price?

Many of You will have family or friends in the Forces and no doubt, like me, You have a profound and deep felt respect and admiration for all those 'serving Queen & Country'. Now, more than ever, we should acknowledge what these amazing people do and how much we owe to them. I know i will be there when Alex and 3 Para arrive back at Catterick Garrison in a few weeks time and i can tell you now i will cry and be humbled by all those very brave and incredible Men & Women as they return home to family and friends.

Very sadly three young, brave Paras will not be marching off a Hercules Transporter into the arms of family and loved ones. Stop for a moment and think of these three incredible Men.
